What is Natural Shea Butter?

Technically, shea butter is a product extracted from the nuts of the African shea tree, but unlike many other tree products, it’s low in proteins and doesn’t trigger allergies. It works like an emollient that softens and heals skin by providing it with the essential nutrients and fatty acids.

Does your Shea butter have an odor?

Well, since it’s organic, yes. But we won’t call it an odor. It’s more like a nutty aroma of the Shea butter.

The Shea butter has a smooth texture but it becomes a bit grainy when melted and not tempered whiles cooling down and solidifying. Why is the Shea butter from Ghana favored by buyers?

Buyers generally go for the goods that have a good reputation. Ghana has earned its reputation for producing high-quality nuts with a low free fatty acid content. But the high quality of nuts is not the only reason for buyers to prefer Ghana.

Another important factor is the political stability of Ghana and the almost non-existent interference of government in the Shea sub-sector, unlike many other countries. This means that the buyers can have an undisturbed and continuous supply. The marketing channels in Ghana are also quite well defined. That’s why Shea Butter is generally preferred to be bought from Ghana.

Why are your Shea prices so low?

That’s a good question. Since we have high-quality Natural Shea Butter, the prices should be high. But SOPAM LIMITED Ltd owns a processing facility in Ghana where our employees are trained to process the Shea Butter efficiently. The high prices are usually because of middlemen. However, when it comes to our company, there are no middlemen between our company and the producers. That’s why the prices are relatively low.
